Review: L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation

Hey Gorgeous People,

I was in desperate need for a new foundation since my Maybelline one was almost empty. I also wanted to try one that was a little more expensive and was seen as the more high-end of the pharmacy makeup. So I bought the L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in the shade Rose Ivory.

The packaging is pretty generic but I like the clear packaging so I know how long I have till I have to buy a new foundation. I love that it's a pump foundation as well because I get more control over how much product I use.

I love how silky and soft this foundation is! While it feels really light, it offers me quite a lot of coverage and really works to smooth out my skin tone. Saying that, I wouldn't wear this foundation unless I was prepared to do contour, highlight and a more glam look.

Also, sometimes, if my skin is having a bit of an off day, the foundation has a hard time sticking to my skin. That might just be an issue for me but it doesn't happen a lot.

So this is a really great product! Yes, you may need concealer to cover up any major spots as it isn't as heavy or with as much total coverage as you may need, but it is airy and light and incredibly easy to apply. I also love that it doesn't completely hide my freckles, because I am just beginning to really like them.

I would love to know what your favourite foundation is or even what your thoughts on this foundation is! Just leave a comment down below!

BH Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette Look #1

Hey Gorgeous People,

So I recently posted a review about the BH Cosmetics Natural Eyeshadow Palette and I said that I would possibly do a few makeup looks using the palette. So I did one for you all and I hope you like it!

I first did the base of my face (I'll update you on my routine for that soon) and then I started with shade 1 for the base of my eyelid. I then put shade 2 across my whole eyelid and blended it just above the crease.
(I don't know what is wrong with my top lip but it is looking a bit weird and I'm sorry)
Then I blended shades 3 & 4 along my crease and in the outer V of my eye. I used small amounts of product but built it up and added depth slowly but surely.

Then I used shade 5 on the outer edge of my top lashline to add more depth and have a more smokey aspect to it. Then I put a small cat eye using my BYS Tattoo Liner.
To add a little shimmer and sparkle, I wet my brush with some Maybelline setting spray and used shade 6 to make a little cut crease effect. I soon realised this colour was a little too yellow so i put some of shade 3 over the top to bring out those orange shades again. I also finally did my brows and put on some Maybelline Long and Soft Mascara. Finally, I dabbed on a bit of Nude/Orange Maybelline Long Wear Matte Liquid Lipstick and the look was complete!

I hope you liked this look using the BH Cosmetics Natural Eyeshadow Palette. If you would like more of these just let me know below in the comment section. And yes, my eyebrows have seen better day but they just aren't growing fast enough for me to reshape them :(

BH Cosmetics Palette Review

Hey Gorgeous People,

So, the other week I was shopping on Beauty Bay and came across this really beautiful, natural eyeshadow palette by BH Cosmetics. I thought I would give it a go, because it was on sale, and I went ahead and bought it. So I thought I would review it for you.

So, firstly I must talk about the shipping. Now I am not entirely sure where it came from but I am pretty sure it was from the UK and I chose the 7-10 day shipping. Now this didn't matter too much because it wasn't like I was on a time crunch and needed the palette in 10 days but it was 5 days late and that was a little bit annoying just because I was stressing about buying online and then it was late and I just went into full anxious mode. But it did arrive on the 15th day and I can understand why. The size of the box was huge compared to the size of the palette. Thank you Beauty Bay for using some much bubble wrap and cushioning to make sure the palette got to me safe!

So the first photo is the palette in its own little box/sleeve/thing. I think it's pretty ordinary packaging but, again, it didn't really phase me because it's just packaging. The palette is made out of plastic with an opaque plastic lid so you can see the palette itself. Now onto the actual product.

For $20, I wasn't expecting anything too crazy but I wasn't expecting this. When I tried swatching the colours on my wrist with a brush, the colours seemed not very pigmented and I must say I was a little disappointed. But when I swatched them using a finger, the colours were quite pigmented. I don't really enjoy using my finger to do my eyeshadow but I will keep trying different methods to see which works best.

Now I really like the colours in this palette. I've been looking for a natural eyeshadow palette for quite a while now and I'm glad I stumbled across this one. The product, I have found, is also more pigmented if you use it on top of foundation or concealer so I couldn't use it on just a powdered face, which is a bit of a let down because I like to enhance the crease of my eye  and have a bit of eyeliner on but not wear foundation.

Another let down is that some of the colours are quite hard to blend and do take a lot of time. But I don't mind too much because I usually spend quite a while doing my makeup that a little bit more time blending won't matter too much.

Even though there are some let downs with the product, I think it is a good price and I am quite happy with it. I would recommend it.

If you have bought anything by BH Cosmetics, I would love to hear about it!
I also will post some photos soon with some eyeshadow looks using this palette if you would like them.

The Optifast Diet: Yay or Nay?

Hey Gorgeous People,

Since early March, I have been making a conscious effort to lose weight and lose it healthily. At the beginning of this endeavour, I weighed 93kg (the heaviest I had been) and I was not happy or comfortable in my body. So I began eating healthy.

At first, I just cut out bread, pasta, and anything that was too processed or had too many carbs in it. This went on for about a month and I lost 6kg, although I did put some of that back on during my period as my weight usually goes crazy around that time anyway. After about a month, I decided to start the Optifast diet, which is a VLCD - Very Low Carb Diet. My usual food for the day entailed an Optifast shake for breakfast, an Optifast bar for lunch, and then a high protein, low carb dinner. My dinner remained the same as what I would usually be eating as it usually consists of some chicken or mince and vegetables.

Now I have lost almost 10kg in two months and, while it hasn't been easy, I have noticed considerable differences from when I lost 15kg in a month at the beginning of last year. During school holidays from December 2015-January 2016, I put on enough weight so i weighed 90kg and I was determined to lose that weight. But, in all honesty, I did not lose that weight healthily at all and I believe I ended up losing a lot more muscle than fat. I lost the weight through usually having my only food for the day at dinner and even then, my dinner portions were smaller than usual. I found ways to even skip dinner some times by simply saying I had a big lunch and wasn't hungry. The longest I went without eating a single piece of food was three days.

Now I truly do not recommend this as a way to lose weight! And if you are doing this then I urge you to find a different way, such as Optifast, that allows you to lose weight but to do it in a way that is safe and won't be detrimental to your body. Yes, it is really hard sometimes to stick to the diet and I do get hungry, but the results are showing and I know I am losing fat this time instead of muscle. And, it is a diet! It's going to be hard sometimes! For instance, last year I lost very little from my lower abdomen area but I lost quite a bit off my legs. This time, I can tell that my stomach is getting smaller, which I am so happy about because I had and still have a lot of issues with how I feel about my stomach.

Me when I was around 93kg (I didn't take a lot of photos as I was self-conscious)

Me at my formal when I was 84kg (which is what I am now)

Now the difference may not be alarming as you can't see my whole body in the top photo, but I can feel and see the difference and I am beginning to love my body more.

So I truly recommend a diet like the Optifast diet just because it has really worked for me. Once I get down to my goal weight of 70kg, I will go back to just the healthy eating that I began with. But for now, I am married to the VLCD and I do really enjoy it. And this isn't a one hit, get-down-to-my-goal-weight-then-go-back-to-eating-how-I-was last-year kinda thing. This is a lifestyle change for me and I will have to stick with the healthy, clean eating for the rest of my life.

If you want to share your weight loss journey with me, please feel free to comment! I would love to know how you did it because it is still a journey for me.

Review: Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick

Hey Gorgeous People!

So I had a free little section after finishing some English study that I thought I may as well use to finally focus on you guys and just giving you some more content that we both enjoy!
A few weeks ago, I was on the hunt for some cheap liquid to matte lipsticks just from the local pharmacy that could just be a nice extension to my lipstick range. And I stumbled upon these! Now these two were the only two colours that I really enjoyed from the range. I got Rebel Red and Nude Thrill ( they also come in Berry Boost, Electric Pink, Nude Flush, Fuchsia Ecstasy, Orange Shot, Possessed Plum, Pink Charge and Vivid Violet). They didn't have the whole range at the pharmacy so I was left with very little choice and so these two were my top picks.

Time for my thoughts on this product then!
First of all, I absolutely adore these two colours! They are just really pigmented and are exactly as the name says - VIVID! They aren't streaky and application is just super easy. The packaging is simple which I have no problems with; they do look quite nice in my makeup shelves. The red is a really beautiful blue-based red so it makes your teeth look really white, and the nude is just a beautiful tone which is so gorgeous especially if you are doing a more natural or sepia-toned makeup.

However, while I love the two colours, there are some downsides about this product that just left me underwhelmed and a bit frustrated during the application process. The packaging says its going to be a matte lipstick so, naturally, that is what I expected. But no ... for it to be matte, you have to wipe off as much product from the applicator as possible, which leaves a sticky mess that eventually works its way down the thread of the lid as you can see in the Nude Thrill bottle in the photo. So you get too much product which is a hassle to get back into the bottle. I've had to start using a lip brush to get a small amount off the actual applicator and I just ... get a little irritated. Also, while the initial application of Nude Thrill is really nice, once you get the right amount of product, after about 5-10 minutes I've noticed that it settles in the wrinkles of my lips and I just have to keep reapplying throughout the day.

Another downside to this product is that, because it's not a lip stain or like other liquid lipsticks that I have tried, as soon as you drink or eat, you are left with only the very outer line of your lipstick remaining. So if you wear this product be prepared to be hungry and thirsty unless you are prepared to reapply so many times.

I really liked this product at the start, and I know it's not a high-end brand but I did expect a bit more of a mattifying quality to product so .... this is just a let down. I'll probably continue wearing the Rebel Red because its not as bad as Nude Thrill.

(I know I'm breaking out, sorry it's so gross but it's from the HSC stress)
You can't see the Nude Thrill sinking into my lip wrinkles because this was taken right after application.

I hope this was useful, don't knock off the product till you try it though because it could just be the way I applied the product or the condition of my lips!

Life Update: Education!

Hey Gorgeous People,

So I thought I would just post this quick life update because I have so much going on and I had a few minutes free, so I thought I would share it with all you lovely people!

Yes ... I know I haven't posted something beauty related in a very long time but it has been my HSC year and it has been so hectic and stressful. Right now I am two days away from my first HSC exam for English and, while I feel pretty confident and chill about it all, I am also really scared that I own't get a good enough ATAR to be pleased with myself and the effort I have put into this last year of my schooling.

My trials were a term ago and while I didn't fail in them, I know I can now improve on my marks and get better in my HSC. So it was a good learning curve and I understood that I was really going to have to focus and study my little butt off! My marks were as follows for Trial Examinations:
English Advanced - 67%
General Mathematics - 79%
Modern History - 71% (I am really happy with that because I thought I was going to fail :D )
Ancient History - 75%
Food Technology - 77%
Community and Family Studies - 92% (Top Of The Class!!)

Also, I have applied for university for a Bachelor of Communication and I'm going to major in journalism. I talked to my parents and family and they helped me realise that, while I love ancient history, there wasn't any jobs for me without having to leave Australia and I'm not prepared to leave Australia that soon! And with journalism, I can focus on so many different subjects instead of being so niched, so that's a big bonus.

If any of you have big life updates that you just want to tell someone, I am always here! So comment below if you have any news because I am so excited to hear from you.

Love you all so much,

Stay beautiful xoxo
