Updated Base Makeup Routine

Hey Gorgeous People,

End Result

I realised the other day that I haven't updated my base makeup routine for quite a while ... possibly not even since I was just using BB cream! So I thought it was high time that I let you know what I apply for a more glam look or for when I feel like doing a full face of makeup. Often, I will either not where any makeup apart from doing my eyebrows and mascara just because I don't have time or I'm not doing anything special or going anywhere.

So firstly, I moisturise my face with this non-oily face moisturiser by Cetaphil that also has SPF, to protect my face. Because of the SPF, the moisturiser may make your skin look really shiny but it didn't affect the way my foundation sat on my face. I use the Nivea Protect and Repair Lip Balm to moisturise my lips so they are ready for any lip product I put on them.

To prime my face, I first apply the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm. I am sure you have heard all about the phase where people realised this product worked as a good primer. It also helps to reduce the redness around pimples and spots that you may have and is supposed to help sensitive skin not get irritated. After the balm has settled into my skin a little I use a small amount of NYX Photo-Loving Primer. I love this product because it is just a really nice primer for not very much money. If you have any good recommendations for budget-friendly primers, I would love to know in the comments section below.

I apply my L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in the Shade Rose Ivory, firstly, by dotting it with my fingers and then buffing it into my skin with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I went away from using this brush for a while actually, relying heavily on my beauty blender, but I am falling back in love with it.

For any red spots I blend the Maybelline Match Perfection Concealer in the shade 010 (Ivory) with my finger.

I then set all this with the Starlet Pressed Powder. I don't love this powder as much as others that I have used but it was a desperation purchase and I quite glad it is almost all used up. It isn't terribly but I would like to try a loose powder next time and not much that I have seen beats the Body Shop's Pressed Powders!

Another product that I am learning to love, recently, is BRONZER!! I never used it before because I didn't know if I enjoyed it but I now will not leave it out each time I do a full face. This Elizabeth Arden bronzer is just nice and subtle but gives a really nice golden glow, especially when I use my Designer Tools 416-24 Soft Powder Brush.

(Remind me to never wear a headband outside of my house ... I don't have the right face for it haha).

Okay, I have never used this blush before today but my sister gave it to me and I actually really like it. It's by the brand Essence in the shade Babydoll and it is really nice and perfect for spring. I used a regular blush brush to apply it in sweeping motions from the apples of my cheeks towards my temples.

While this isn't actually a highlighter, I like that it can be super subtle and strong. I used the pale, white shade in the top right corner with a fluffy angled face brush. On top of the first highlighter, I used the Body Shop White Shimmer.

To contour, I used this Eyelure palette and my Real Techniques Contour Brush. You only need a tiny bit of powder with this palette and then, with the point of the brush in the hollow of my cheek, I blend the product along the hollow towards my mouth and onto my cheek bone.

So that is my base makeup routine! It is pretty simple but, for me, it is a bit long for me to do in the mornings before going to uni. But I can tell you all about my usual uni makeup look another time. I really hope you liked this post and if you have any tips and tricks I would love to hear them.

What's your base makeup routine? I would love to hear all about it xx

Behind the Blog #1 - My Dream Job

Hey Gorgeous People,

I thought I would start doing a little series of me as a blogger. I have done a recent post about my recent interests in movies, TV shows etc (which you can see here) but I thought I would do some more!

So this time I thought I would explain more about me and I hope you enjoy it. And this one is about my dream job.

Ever since I was a little kid, I was adamant that I would become an archaeologist. I remember digging up a rather large hole, or at least I remember it as being big, with my cousin in the corner of his backyard. We converted it into a pool for his pig after a while but we would make up extravagant stories about the bits of brick or tile we found.

But for a while, I was flitting between dream jobs, unsure about what I even wanted to do. I was then certain that I wanted to be a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Nurse but then remembered that I am too emotional and also hate the site of blood or anything like that.

So then I switched back to wanting to be an archaeologist. I became invested in trying to understand ancient civilisations, especially ancient Rome. But ... unfortunately there isn't much of a call for archaeologists at the minute and, even if there was, I began to really not enjoy my Ancient History class during HSC.

So here I am, doing a Bachelor of Communication and hopefully figuring out what I want to be in the near future. I would love to hope that being a blogger could be my dream job but unfortunately that isn't a possibility at the minute. I would love to be an event or wedding planner because that truly interests me but I still have 2.5 years left of university to make up my mind. I'm still young and I may decide that I want to do something completely different that I've never heard about before. But so far, this is me and my dream job/s.

What is your dream job? Has it changed much since you were younger?

BH Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette Look #2

Hey Gorgeous People,
I thought it would be a good idea to try another makeup look using the BH Cosmetics Natural Eyeshadow Palette for you all.

I know this is a day late and I'm sorry. It's just been one of those weeks. But I am trying to make sure I get at least one blog post up each week for you all!

So here's a view of what colours I used. It's easier this way because the palette didn't actually name the different pigments.

So first off, I blended some of my L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation across my lid to lock in the pigment of the eyeshadow. I then, using the Designer Tools Large Eyeshadow 429 - 10 brush, blended shade 1 from the outer corner of my eye to the inner corner. This ensured the majority of pigment was focused on the outer edge of my eyelid.

Then, using my Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush, I blended shade 2 through my crease and just onto my brow bone.

I then grabbed a fluffy blending brush (I don't know its name, sorry) to blend shade 3 into my crease as well. I have been wanting to use this bright pink shade for quite a while now and I am pleasantly surprised with how it can be so subtle.
The last shade I used in my crease and outer V of my eye was a dark brown/plum shade. Using the Real Techniques Base Shadow brush, I blended shade 4 into the outer V of my eye and then dragged it a few times through my crease.

To create a subtle cut crease, I used my Designer Tools Small Eyeshadow 429 - 06 brush with some Calvin Klein Sheer Creme Eyeshadow in "Snakeskin Silver.' I then patted in shade 5 with the same brush.

I then did my eyebrows using the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in the shade Brunette with my Designer Tools Fine Angle Liner 406 - 06 brush. For my mascara I used the Maybelline Full 'n Soft mascara, and for a winged eyeliner I used the BYS 1 Day Tattoo Eyeliner Pen in Black.
I then just did my foundation etc as normal!

I would love to know if you would like another eyeshadow look using the BH Cosmetics Natural Eyeshadow Palette down below! Also, if you haven't checked out the other look, head over here to see it!

April 2017: My Favourites

Hey Gorgeous People,

So April is almost over and I wanted to just give you my opinion on some of the makeup I've been using, clothes I've been wearing, and movies/TV shows I've been watching this month.

Makeup
L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation (Rose Ivory):
I got this product for 30% off and I have been wanting to try this foundation for a long time now. I've done a full review of this product, which you can see here, but I must say that this is a favourite and I would definitely recommend it.

BH Cosmetics Natural Eye Palette:
3 words is all I need - I LOVE IT!

Starlet Pressed Powder:
Now I would definitely NOT recommend this product. It makes me look quite ashy and the product is so hard to get out of the pan without ruining your powder brush. I have tried using sponges and an array of brushes, but it is still so difficult. 3/10.

Clothes
Temt Burgundy Ribbed Bodysuit:
It is super comfortable and really flattering. It is really good quality for such a low price.

KMart Black High Top Canvas Shoes:
I wear these shoes almost every day to uni and they have lasted really well and are quite comfortable.

Corset Story Corsets:
Okay, I bought these for such a bargain because of a clearance sale and they are absolutely beautiful. I got an underbust corset and then a full corset, both black with a black lace design on them. They are super simple and elegant plus I saved over $250 for them!

Movies/TV Shows
Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2:
Oh my goodness ... this movie was absolutely fantastic and I could watch it much more often. Such clever special effects and really amazing casting!

Chewing Gum:
While this TV show may be more suited for an older audience, it was so hilarious and just showed the reality of a girl in her situation. I loved it so much and binge watched all available episodes in a day! Don't judge me; they are only 20 minutes long so it was easy!

The Crown:
I admit I was late to catch the train of this enthralling TV show. I love historical dramas and this really hit the nail on the head for me. Also, I love Matt Smith so that was a bonus. Claire Foy is also a remarkable actress! 11/10!

Review: L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation

Hey Gorgeous People,

I was in desperate need for a new foundation since my Maybelline one was almost empty. I also wanted to try one that was a little more expensive and was seen as the more high-end of the pharmacy makeup. So I bought the L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in the shade Rose Ivory.

The packaging is pretty generic but I like the clear packaging so I know how long I have till I have to buy a new foundation. I love that it's a pump foundation as well because I get more control over how much product I use.

I love how silky and soft this foundation is! While it feels really light, it offers me quite a lot of coverage and really works to smooth out my skin tone. Saying that, I wouldn't wear this foundation unless I was prepared to do contour, highlight and a more glam look.

Also, sometimes, if my skin is having a bit of an off day, the foundation has a hard time sticking to my skin. That might just be an issue for me but it doesn't happen a lot.

So this is a really great product! Yes, you may need concealer to cover up any major spots as it isn't as heavy or with as much total coverage as you may need, but it is airy and light and incredibly easy to apply. I also love that it doesn't completely hide my freckles, because I am just beginning to really like them.

I would love to know what your favourite foundation is or even what your thoughts on this foundation is! Just leave a comment down below!

BH Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette Look #1

Hey Gorgeous People,

So I recently posted a review about the BH Cosmetics Natural Eyeshadow Palette and I said that I would possibly do a few makeup looks using the palette. So I did one for you all and I hope you like it!

I first did the base of my face (I'll update you on my routine for that soon) and then I started with shade 1 for the base of my eyelid. I then put shade 2 across my whole eyelid and blended it just above the crease.
(I don't know what is wrong with my top lip but it is looking a bit weird and I'm sorry)
Then I blended shades 3 & 4 along my crease and in the outer V of my eye. I used small amounts of product but built it up and added depth slowly but surely.

Then I used shade 5 on the outer edge of my top lashline to add more depth and have a more smokey aspect to it. Then I put a small cat eye using my BYS Tattoo Liner.
To add a little shimmer and sparkle, I wet my brush with some Maybelline setting spray and used shade 6 to make a little cut crease effect. I soon realised this colour was a little too yellow so i put some of shade 3 over the top to bring out those orange shades again. I also finally did my brows and put on some Maybelline Long and Soft Mascara. Finally, I dabbed on a bit of Nude/Orange Maybelline Long Wear Matte Liquid Lipstick and the look was complete!

I hope you liked this look using the BH Cosmetics Natural Eyeshadow Palette. If you would like more of these just let me know below in the comment section. And yes, my eyebrows have seen better day but they just aren't growing fast enough for me to reshape them :(
