Green With Envy - Makeup Look

Hey Gorgeous People,

Finished Look

I'm pretty sure I did a look like this with the same eyeshadow palette but I wanted to refine it and make it more wearable because I think that a look like this is actually quite classic and beautiful.

I have been really unsure about the colour green but I've read that people with blue eyes suit green eyeshadow so I also wanted to test that theory.

I started with a fresh, clean and moisturised face as one always should (check out my skincare routine here).

I'm falling back in love with this mini palettes! I recently used one by Revlon to do a smokey bronze eyeshadow look. This time, I used this green eyeshadow palette by Maybelline that I got for my birthday a few years back.

Using a flat eyeshadow brush and a fluffy crease brush, I put the light green shade across my lid and blended to just above the crease.

Using a round fluffy brush, I then mixed the medium and darker green shades, then blended them into the outer V of my eyelid and through my crease. I built this shade up as I didn't to completely overpower the entire look with this shade.

Then, with a more precise crease brush, I blended the black-green in the outer V of my eyelid and midway through my crease.

To highlight, I used the palest highlight shade beneath the black-green with a flat eyeshadow brush across the inner corner of my eye and then onto the mid section of eyelid.

This wouldn't be complete without some winged eyeliner using my BYS 1 Day Tattoo Eyeliner and some Maybelline Full n' Soft Mascara.

I then did the rest of my normal face makeup and some Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Shade 35 Rebel Red.

So I guess the theory is right because I absolutely love this! Now I just have to find an outfit to suit it. Any ideas?

Chokers For Days!

Hey Gorgeous People,

I have always been sceptical but curious of the whole choker trend. I remember as a young kid seeing my older sisters with those stretchy plastic ones and I just couldn't imagine that they would be that comfortable. But I was on one of my many trips to KMart and they had a pack of 3 chokers that actually looked quite nice so I thought I would buy them and try them out. Of course, I didn't expect any great amount of quality from KMart but they didn't turn out too bad.

As you can see, all three of them are fabric chokers and not the plastic ones. This was just my preference because I like the way they look over the twisted plastic ones.

The first one is a thin suede band with a gold coloured ring in the centre. I really liked this one when I first saw it, and still do, but the points where the band is folded around the centre ring is slightly off centre so you can see the folded over edges on the back. I don't mind just snipping these bits off though. Chokers are surprisingly comfortable but I was unsure as to whether they were supposed to sit at the bottom of my neck or a little higher up. It ended slipping down to the bottom of my neck anyway.

The second is a burgundy coloured suede band that is a little thicker than the previous choker. I love this colour so much and always have so I was so glad there was a choker like this in the pack.

The third choker is a plan black, thick band of a fabric that I can't really identify. It feels like plastic fabric basically. But it is still comfortable and I ended up not really noticing that I even had a choker on.

I think chokers are a really great addition to many outfits just because it is simple and can change the whole dynamic of an outfit when compared to a necklace. I found that I felt that my neck was slimmer and longer when I was wearing a choker, which I really enjoy even though it may not look any different to a passerby.

What is your opinion on chokers?

How I Store: Scarves

Hey Gorgeous People,

I recently started to change around how I stored my things in my room and I thought I would share some little tricks or just what I did when I stored my clothes, shoes etc.

So I used to not really know how to store my scarves. I didn't want to fold them and have them take up heaps of room in my drawers but hanging them over the rail in my closet was just too bulky. Especially since I decided to start hanging up jumpers and long-sleeved tops in my closet as well.

I saw different tricks on Pinterest but they either meant you had to go buy a scarf holder or buy different products to make one yourself. I, however, needed the same result but on a budget of ... $0.

So this is what I decided...

It is super easy, super simply and you will, most likely, already have a spare coathanger hanging around! I just tied them all around and it took up a sixth of the space!

And it doesn't matter if you only have 6 scarves like me or if you have 60! This method would still cut the space used by hanging scarves in half, at least.

How do you store your scarves? What tips and tricks do you use to minimise clutter in your closet or drawers?

Brown/Bronze Smokey Eye

Hey Gorgeous People,

Finished Look

Here I am with another makeup look using my BH Cosmetics Palette! This time I tried to do something I don't usually do and that is a quite intense, dark smokey eye look.

So, of course, I started off with a fresh, clean face. To see my skincare routine just head over here!

The only palette I used on my eyes was this small, bronze palette by Revlon. I absolutely love this palette because it has such a beautiful, dark, coppery, bronze. I also just used a flat eyeshadow brush and a fluffy, crease brush.

Using the flat eyeshadow brush, I placed the dark bronze shade (third colour from the top) all over my eyelid and blended it out with some more of that shade up towards my brow, not blending too close to my eyebrow.

I then got the last shade, a deep brown, and, with a flat eyeshadow brush, concentrated on my eyelid, only blending it as far as into my crease.

I then used the top shade, a pale gold, in the inner corner of my eye to highlight. I also brought this shade onto my lower lash line in the inner corner.

Then, using my BYS 1 Day Tattoo Eyeliner, I did simple winged eyeliner to add a bit of drama to the look. To smoke it all out, I used the deep bronze and deep brown shade along the outer corner of my lower lash line.

I finished it all off with my normal face makeup routine, which you can see here! Add a little dark red lipstick and you're good to go. And that's that! I actually really love this eyeshadow look; it just seems perfect for a night out.

What is your go to look for a night out?

June 2017: My Favourites

Hey Gorgeous People,

It's finally July!! I know this is a day late, I went to a friend's house last night for a bonfire and didn't get home till after 1am.

I just thought I would update you on my favourites for this month! If you want to see my favourites in April, check them out here.

Makeup:
L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation: Shade Rose Ivory:
Once again this product is on my favourites list! I just can't get over how great it is! It is so silky and smooth; I really recommend it.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush:
I have re-fallen in love with this. I relied so heavily on my beauty blender that I forgot how good brushes can be! Especially this one.
Brush on the far right

Clothes:
Dark Grey Coat by Hot Options:
This was a gift to me from someone about 2 or 3 years ago and I never used to wear it bu now I can't even remember how many times I've worn this. It is my staple for winter! It has been so cold recently and this is a coat that goes with everything I wear ... which is mainly jeans and a plain top.

Jeggings:
KMart is BAE!! It is heaven and everyone knows that! I vowed I would never wear jeggings because everyone used to tell me that it wasn't a good look or that they just aren't something you would wear. Seriously, I recommend jeggings to EVERYONE! They are so comfortable and look absolutely fantastic!

Movies/TV Shows:
Star Trek Voyager:
I have been so late to the party!! Two of my sisters have been watching it way before me and I always thought that I wouldn't like it ... until I actually watched it! Now I've been binge watching it on Netflix when I should really be doing stuff like writing posts or reorganising my room! But it is seriously so good and, if you aren't watching it already, you really should give it a look. Tell me if you like it xx.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency:
So, about a week ago, me and two of my sisters binge watched the first season of this in a night. Honestly, it was a bit hard to follow but it is one of those mystery, supernatural shows that are just pure gold! At first, I thought it was more of a kid's show but ... definitely not an under 13 TV show just because it does have some more intense scenes. But this is really amazing and captivating! So glad we decided to watch it!

Doctor Who:
Of course this is on here. I think it is just a given that Doctor Who will always be a monthly favourite for me!

Outlander:
I know I am late on this one. I started watching this about two weeks ago and I AM HOOKED! First of all, it is a great plot and it's really well executed. Casting is magnificent! And I do love a good historical drama so it was like Outlander was made for me. There are some pretty intense scenes that in one I did look away from the screen just because it made me feel sick but ... it is history and terrible stuff has happened. All-in-all it is a great tv show and I can't believe it took me so long to watch it!

I guess these 'Favourites' posts are sort of like my Behind the Blog series because you do get to see what I've been up to and my interests. So I hope you like it!

Skincare Routine: June 2017

Hey Gorgeous People,

I've now updated my base makeup routine for you all so I thought it is high time that I update my skincare routine for you.

I find it quite hard to stick to my skincare especially if I'm super tired or wake up too late. I usually clean my face while I'm in the shower so washing my face in the morning is often overlooked, as I shower at night. But my routine is pretty simple, really easy and I should make more of an effort to maintain the routine morning and night.

To remove any makeup, I use this homemade makeup remover. I just use regular face wipes for in the morning because the homemade makeup remover has coconut oil in it, which is a bit too heavy for the day. So when I use this at night, the coconut oil has time to soak into my skin and add another layer of moisturising goodness! The recipe is super simple:

  • 2 TBSP coconut oil
  • 1 TBSP baby wash (this isn't necessary but it can be added as an extra)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Cotton pads

All you do is melt the coconut oil and add it to the other ingredients in a container of your choice (I just used a glass jar with a lid) and shake till the ingredients are sufficiently mixed. I separated the mixture in half, you'll see why in a second. You then put cotton pads in the jar, making sure that they are soaked. With the separated jar of mixture, pour it on the cotton pads at regular intervals and at the end once all cotton pads are in the jar so that the cotton pads are really soaked. Now you have homemade makeup remover wipes in minutes!

Half Bare/ Half Makeup

I then wash my face with the Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhead Charcoal Exfoliating Gel. This is only supposed to be used three times a week and it just so happened that it was an exfoliating day when I did this post. I am actually due to buy a new face wash. I usually just stick with a Garnier or Nivea product.

I then use my Cetaphil DermaControl Moisturiser with SPF. I really like this because it protects my face and moisturises it. It also doesn't disrupt how makeup sits on my face.

To reduce redness and help with sensitivity, I use the Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm. I really love this as a part of my skincare routine as well as a part of my makeup base.

To finish it all off, just grab a lip balm of your choice!
Hope you enjoyed this little look into how I take care of my face xx.

What's your favourite skincare products?

No Makeup Makeup Look

Hey Gorgeous People,

Here is a little extra for you beauties that was the finishing touches for my updated base makeup routine xo.

I wanted this to be a super simple, subtle makeup/no makeup look so hopefully you'll like it!

To see how I got the rest of my face before doing this last little bits for the look, you can find them here.

EYEBROWS!! For me, eyebrows can be super easy and then, on some days .. okay, most days, harder than my HSC! I just wanted super subtle brows so only used a tiny amount of product.

Myabelline Expert Wear Palette'Natural Smokes'
Designer Tools 406-06 Fine Liner Brush

For eyeshadow, using a fluffy angled eyeshadow brush, I put the highlight in the inner corner of my eye, the pale dusty pink across my lid and blended onto my brows bone, the brown blended into the outer corner of my eye, and the shimmery plum smoked out under my lower lash line.

I used my favourite mascara, the Maybelline Full 'n Soft Mascara, on my upper and lower lashes.

If you have any requests, I would love to hear them in the comments section below of if you email me xx.
